The MMORPG New World would like to experience its second spring - this is how it should succeed

This week the main focus was on two MMORPGs. In WoW WotLK Classic, the first raids opened and problematic bugs were fixed. New World, in turn, presented the new patch and new servers. We at MeinMMO summarize everything important for you.

The highlights of the week:

  • Brimstone Sands is a new update coming to New World on October 18th. This brings, among other things, a new area and new story content. In addition, fresh servers aimed at new players will start in early November. Veterans cannot switch to it with their characters and the economy also starts from zero.
  • On October 7th, the first three raids in WoW WotLK Classic opened. Although the first players are already level 80 and plowing through the raids, latecomers can still keep up, as our editor Benedict Grothaus explains.
  • Lost Ark has announced a new roadmap for the final months of 2022. There are two new classes included.

The excitement of the week: One of the largest MMO studios was sold to a new owner for 642 million euros. For the time being, however, nothing should change for the players.

The discussion of the week: In WoW WotLK Classic, you shouldn’t be looking for the perfect party. At least that’s what some players claim. But not everyone agrees.

WoW brings super XP buff and a shut down MMORPG returns

This is what happened in the big MMORPGs:

  • A Super XP buff is now active in WoW Shadowlands. If you can, you should use it to level up new classes. Cortyn also explains why the World First race in Dragonflight will be the most exciting yet.
  • The new DLC Firesong will be coming soon in ESO and we have summarized all the information about it. We also reported on the Manor of the Masks quest line. This is really exceptional and we explain why.
  • Guild Wars 2 previewed upcoming content. The focus is on changes to World vs. World, an old PvP mode.
  • Final Fantasy XIV players have made a wish for their Animal Crossing island. However, the boss is skeptical. Also announced the new patch 6.25 for October 18th and the return of offline fan festivals for 2023 (via Twitter).
  • If you want to complete one of the rarest achievements in Lost Ark, you only need a friend and about 10 minutes.
  • New season servers launch in Black Desert on October 12th (via BDO).

This is what happened with the small MMORPGs:

  • A curious bug popped up in New World this week. You could kill other players with an emote. This error clouded the anticipation of the upcoming innovations.
  • Echo of Soul was discontinued in 2022 but is now returning with a new publisher.
  • In Star Trek Online, the Emperor’s Will event has been extended due to problems with the rewards (via MassivelyOP).
  • Swords of Legends Online has received a new patch with new instance difficulty levels (via Gameforge).

The 10 most played MMORPGs on Steam in October 2022

This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:

  • Traha Global is a new MMORPG set to release on Steam in November. It’s reminiscent of Lost Ark, but in third-person view.
  • Embers Adrift will be out next week. The release trailer has now been published. You can find out more about the game in our play report.
  • We have put together everything you need to know about Ashes of Creation in a short video.
  • ArcheAge War is a new MMORPG announced. So far, however, no details are known, with one exception: the game is rated as “over 18” in Korea (via MMOCulture).

That was the MMORPG news of the week at a glance. What is your personal highlight? Did you experience anything else interesting this week? Or have we perhaps forgotten something important? Write it to us in the comments here at MeinMMO.
