The Witcher – Blood Origin: Episode Count and Release
The series will be released in one go on December 25, 2022, so all episodes at once. But how many episodes are there actually? Blood Origin is a mini-series: Blood Origin is only four episodes long!
What is Blood Origin about?
The prequel series will be set 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher, starring Geralt, Yennefer & Co. This even refers to the period before the conjunction of the spheres, when the worlds of elves collided with that of humans, ghouls, and other creatures. The plot of Blood Origin is heading towards exactly this mysterious event. “We will explain how and why it happened.”, explains writer Declan de Barra. Therefore, viewers will also see the high culture of the elves for the first time, before they were colonized by humans. A continent ruled by different elven kingdoms, with their own hierarchies: kings at the top, then mages, then warriors and those of lower origin at the bottom.

The Origins of the Witchers
On top of that, it will also be about the emergence of the first witcher. It is clear to the writers that the first official sorcerers were only created long after the arrival of humans, among other things to eliminate the monsters of the conjunction of the spheres. “But the actual initial workings of witchers and the Trial of the Grasses, that was open [zu erforschen]” teases de Barra.
