FIFA 23: EA accidentally leaks new mode

Electronic Arts makes another faux pas with FIFA 23. After the title was briefly playable a few weeks before its release, the publisher is now accidentally leaking the new World Cup mode.

This should probably only find its way into the game in a few weeks, in line with the major football event that is to be held in Qatar in November. But even before that, players who own FIFA 23 on the PlayStation 5 were able to access parts of the new World Cup mode.

FIFA 23: Leak gives a preview of the upcoming World Cup mode

It wasn’t long before the first keen observers were circulating screenshots on social media showing FIFA 23’s new World Cup mode. We get to see the four sub-modes to choose from, which would be:

  • FIFA World Cup Live
  • FIFA World Cup kick-off
  • Online Tournament
  • FIFA World Cup 2022

So far, however, we do not know exactly what the individual modes are. The only known thing is that we should have a choice of 48 teams. The number exceeds that of the actual number of participants in the tournament, in which 32 teams from all over the world are competing this year.

FIFA 23 is set to be the last named part of the series, as EA is already planning a whole new approach to its popular soccer simulation for next year. Nevertheless, or perhaps because of this, FIFA 23 was able to break the launch record for the series once again in terms of sales figures. Our detailed test will tell you whether this is justified or whether the final offshoot is more likely to play in the district class.
