NVIDIA shares official benchmark of the RTX 4080 16GB and RTX 4080 12GB GPUs

Yesterday NVIDIA published new gaming performance benchmarks for GeForce RTX 4080 16GB and RTX 4080 12GB graphics cards. Based on the results, there is a large gap between each of the three GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards.

These benchmarks cover three games, but show us comparisons of GeForce RTX 40 series cards with references to the RTX 30 series. It’s already been discussed how well the GeForce RTX 4090 performs in games, delivering almost double the gains without DLSS and up to 4x more with DLSS 3 enabled, but now the eyes are on the performance of NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 4080 16GB and 12GB variants.

In A Plague Tale: Requiem, we see that the 16GB 4080 is 9% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti and the 16GB RTX 4080 is 16% slower than the same card in native 4K with RT disabled. With DLSS 3 enabled, the cards are 41% and 16% faster than the 3090 Ti. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB is also 30% faster than the 12GB variant natively and 21% faster with DLSS 3 enabled.

The performance figures shared by NVIDIA give us a first look at native gaming and DLSS 3 performance. Starting with F1 2022 in 4K and ray tracing enabled, we see the 16GB RTX 4080 being 16% faster than the RTX 3090 Ti with DLSS disabled and 44% faster with DLSS 3 enabled. The RTX 4080 12GB is 6% slower than the RTX 3090 Ti at native 4K and 14% faster with DLSS 3 enabled. It also appears that the gap between the 16GB and 12GB RTX 4080 models is quite significant, which will explain the huge price difference. At F1 2022, the RTX 4080 16GB is 24% faster in native mode and 27% faster with DLSS 3 enabled.

In Microsoft Flight Simulator, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB is 24% faster, while the RTX 4080 12GB is 1% slower than the RTX 3090 Ti at native 4K resolution. With DLSS 3 enabled, the cards get a 94% and 60% boost over the 3090 Ti, respectively. Once again, the 16GB 4080 is 26% faster with native 4K and 21% faster with DLSS enabled compared to the 12GB variant.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB and RTX 4080 12GB graphics cards will launch in November and will be priced at $1,199 USD and $899 USD, respectively.
