Former Bayonetta Voice Actress Hellena Taylor Calls On Fans To Boycott Bayonetta 3 And CEO Responds

Recently, we reported that the well-known voice actress Jennifer Hale was going to lend her voice to the game’s protagonist. Bayonetta 3, something that baffled fans who were waiting for Hellena Taylor who lent her voice to the first two games. Although no details were provided, the developers said it was due to “overlapping circumstances” for the change.

Turns out Bayonetta’s former voice actress, Hellena Taylor, has spoken out about why she won’t reprise the role. In a series of videos shared on social media, Taylor said she was offered $4,000 to return to the role of Bayonetta, an offer she described as “an insult”. Taylor has since called on people to boycott the game ahead of its October 28 release.

Through Taylor’s Twitter profile, she introduced herself as “the voice of Bayonetta.” Throughout the videos of her, she said she was asked to recast the role since the voice changed over time, and when she did, she said that she passed away “successfully.” However, that gave her what she called an “insulting offer”, so she wrote to Kamiya to ask what she felt her talents were worth. Taylor said she received a response that initially made her feel positive about getting a better offer, but that’s when the offer was raised to $4,000.

“This is an insult to me. The amount of time I’ve taken to work on my talent and everything I’ve given to this game and to the fans,” Taylor said at the end of the first video of her. “I ask the fans to boycott this game and instead spend the money they would have spent on this game by donating it to charity. I didn’t want the world. I didn’t ask for too much. He was only asking for a living, decent, living wage. What they did was legal, but it was immoral.”

For his part, Hideki Kamiya, the executive director who works at Bayonetta 3 and a well-known figure within developer PlatinumGames, has since responded to these claims.

Since Taylor’s account of the situation in Bayonetta 3 began circulating on social media this weekend, Kamiya responded on Twitter with language that suggested he felt the whole truth was not public.

“Sad and deplorable for the attitude of falsehood. That’s all I can say now. By the way, BEWARE OF MY RULES.”

Bayonetta 3 It will be released on Nintendo Switch on October 28, and the download weighs in at 15GB.
