WoW: Dragonflight: New changes for season affix Thundering

Ores and herbs have different minimap icons in WoW: Dragonflight.

For the third time, the Mythic Plus affix for Season 1 (Thundering) has been adjusted on the WoW: Dragonflight beta server. Now it’s clear who can get the Kiss/Curse effect debuff.

Update 10/15/2022: The developers of WoW: Dragonflight put in Seasonal affix Thundering for Mythic Plus dungeons hands again. Players are now affected by the debuff every 75 seconds and are stunned for 8 seconds if they can’t get rid of it within 15 seconds. Four players are always selected. The three DpS players are always chosen as targets, who gets the 4th debuff (tank or healer) is random. So the tank is not exempt from this mechanic.

During recent Mythic Plus testing on the WoW: Dragonflight beta servers, we learned how the season affix thundering should work. thundering repeatedly spawns multiple orbs of lightning around players and then shoots them out, similar to the Pride season affix. This mechanic now changes completely and becomes much more complicated.

So far this kiss/curse has had no benefit. If players are affected by the debuff, they now get through Primal Overload +15% to damage done and healing done for 15 seconds. Become through the revision However, players are now marked with two different debuffs. If you come into contact with a player who has the wrong debuff, the damage and healing buff will end. If you fail to find the partner with the correct “Mark” in the 15 seconds, you will be stunned for 8 seconds and take DoT damage.

The two “marks” of the Thundering affix

  • Primal Overload: Raszageth marks players with Mark of Wind or Mark of Lightning, granting them 15% increased damage and healing done for 15 sec. Coming into contact with the opposing mark neutralizes the effect on both players.
After 15 sec marked players are afflicted with Primal Overload, stunning them and inflicting 9 Nature damage every 1 sec for 8 sec.
  • Mark of Lightning: Overloads a player with primal power, increasing their damage and healing by 15% for 15 sec.
Upon expiration, stuns the player and inflicts 9 Nature damage every 1 sec for 8 sec.
Coming into contact with a Mark of Wind removes this effect.

Lightning Mark and Mark of Wind players must converge to remove the buff/debuff before it expires. The aim will be to find your partner with the right debuff immediately when Thundering occurs and run into each other just before the 15 seconds are up to take full advantage of the buff and not get stunned. Good thing there is no collision between players ^^

How exactly this plays out in a 5-player group is not yet clear. With two different debuffs and five players, the calculation doesn’t add up. The tank will probably be spared by this mechanism. Otherwise there would always be one player whose buff cannot be removed and who will inevitably be stunned and have to use a heavy defensive cooldown.
