FIFA 23: Here’s why your top players are looking all wrong right now

In FIFA 23, some players are wondering: Some of their stars don’t look like they used to anymore. What’s going on?

In FIFA 23 it can happen that you suddenly find players in your teams – or in your opponents – who look completely different from their real role models.

Such an example was shared by Reddit user “OhTommyBoy”. He posted a picture of the Brazilian player Antony in FIFA 23, which really didn’t look like the usual Antony at all.

“I was disappointed that Antony didn’t get a face scan, but now he looks like this? What?” writes the astonished player (via reddit).

It’s just a phase

Antony is just one of several players to be found with a hairless, eyebrowless face in Ultimate Team right now. However, it was quickly noticed here, because Antony is a very popular player in FIFA 23.

Another example is Rafael Leao. The AC Milan Winger is also a very popular card in Starter teams and currently looks like this when used in Ultimate Team:

Why does this face change appear? In FIFA 23 there are some players who got face scan and show their real face in FIFA 23.

Antony and Rafael Leao have not been part of it and each had faces that were at most based on their real appearance.

However, the completely generic heads that they are showing right now in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team are an indicator that this is now changing: In the past, such faces often appeared on players whose appearance was about to be updated.

An example of this was Marco Reus, who briefly looked completely wrong in FIFA 23 a good three weeks ago (via reddit), but meanwhile it looks like its real model again.

So it should only be a phase in which these players look the way they look right now. They will soon be able to show their real faces.

In the course of updates, the FIFA 23 patch notes repeatedly state that “Star Heads” have been updated – but not which ones. This is likely to happen again and again in the future – so it’s possible that you’ll run into such faces more often.

In this case, it is not an error in FIFA 23, but rather a transitional phase. However, FIFA 23 has been irritating with some errors in the past few weeks.
