Spotify: Subscription with twice the price and better sound is on the way
“Platinum” tariff
Music streaming service Spotify is actually working on a new subscription model. The tariff, called Platinum, is supposed to provide additional functions, but it also costs twice as much.

A customer survey by the music streaming service Spotify sparks speculation about a new tariff: In the survey, which is primarily aimed at former subscribers, the company wants to know under what conditions they would return to the paid subscription. The survey also includes a section on a plan called “Platinum,” which promises a number of additional options at a price of $19.99.
This is reported by various users on the social media platform Reddit. For example, the Platinum subscription from Spotify should enable music streaming in higher resolution for the higher price, as is already the case with Apple Music or Deezer, for example. In addition, customers of the new subscription could adjust the respective streams specifically to their headphones, and there should also be exclusive podcasts produced by Spotify.
Two functions called “Library Pro” and “Playlist Pro” would also be included in such a platinum tariff – but Spotify did not specify in the survey what this is about. A specially curated collection of playlists, similar to Apple Music, based on the user’s previous listening history is conceivable.
That would make Spotify one of the last music streaming providers to follow suit with an option for high-definition audio. Deezer recently added the better quality to its range, and Amazon Music, Apple Music and Tidal also offer the HD option in their tariffs. In the linked comparison, we show which overall package of music streaming services is the most convincing.
