WoW Guide: Enchanting from 1 to 525 – Skill Tips with Recipe List
If you’re looking to get a little extra pocket money but don’t fancy crafting professions that require gathering ores, herbs, or hides, then Enchanting is the career choice for your character in World of Warcraft. Alongside jewelcrafting, the profession has stubbornly held its place at the top of the most popular crafts in World of Warcraft for years. Enchanters are not only able to strengthen weapons and armor with powerful item improvements, but can also gain valuable shards, essences and dust from seemingly worthless items by disenchanting them. In our Enchanting guide, we explain how you can effectively use this craft to reach the highest skill level of WoW WotLK Classic (and beyond) and how you can use it to increase your wallet.
Enchanting: That’s why the profession is worthwhile
As a seasoned enchanter, you can disenchant green, blue, or epic items to gain dust, shards, and essences from weapons and armor you don’t otherwise use. For example, you don’t have to leave your outdated, soul-bound equipment to a dealer for little gold during the quest, but you can win numerous valuable materials for item improvements or sale in the auction house. Also, when soulbound loot isn’t being used in instances and raids, you’re able to get the most value out of the loot by disenchanting it.
These materials can be used to craft enchanters, gear, and weapons with powerful item enhancements such as
Weapon – Force Stream
or
Bracer – Agility
to provide, or to improve your pocket money in the auction house with the recipes you have learned and the appropriate materials. As an enchanter you are also able to improve the values of your rings.
Rewarding second job: Tailoring
Enchanters can harvest all the materials they need themselves from items like weapons and armor. Since such items can be produced relatively easily with Tailoring and without the need for a Gathering profession, this craft is ideally suited as a second profession. If you can access the necessary materials through alts or through the auction house, you are also free to choose leatherworking or blacksmithing.
Earn gold with enchanting
In the past, enchanters still had to attract customers in the trade chat in order to increase their pocket money by enchanting someone else’s equipment. Since Wrath of the Lich King it’s possible to put an enchantment on a
Enchantment Parchment
to cast and offer this as a consumable item in the auction house.
In addition, it is advisable to quickly access equipment that is offered at particularly low prices, disenchant it and sell the materials obtained for a significantly higher price or use them for enchantments on parchments. As long as you can keep an eye on the market as an enchanter and have the necessary materials and recipes, you can also build a lucrative business with the sometimes expensive profession of enchanting. By the way: If you disenchant weapons of unusual quality, then the chance for essences is higher than if you disenchant armor of unusual quality of the same level. Rare items are always disenchanted to shards, epic items to crystals.
Enchanting: As efficient as possible at 525
Maxing the skill level in Enchanting may require a significant investment compared to other professions. Small splinters, dust and essences, which are required for skilling in large quantities, can often only be found on the auction house for horrendous prices. However, if you create a new character and use the disenchantments of his captured items to level up this profession, you will hardly have to spend any money. But if you don’t want to go out with your high-level character yourself to loot low-level items for disenchanting in instances, it can get expensive.
If you have to give up an already skilled profession for the art of enchantment, you should therefore think twice about this step. We have put together a skill list below so that you can increase your enchanting skills to the highest skill level as quickly and effectively as possible. You should also note that yellow or green enchantment recipes do not always give you a skill point. In the skill list below, we will therefore only name them minimum number the required materials.
