Netflix: Profile transfer is coming, prepare for additional fees when sharing

Netflix plans to offer the ability to transfer a profile to another Netflix account soon.

Anyone who has a Netflix account should be informed as soon as the corresponding function is available. However, the streaming service does not give a schedule.

When the profile is transferred to a new account, previously viewed content, ratings, recommendations and the watch list are transferred.

This should make it easier for Netflix users to create new accounts without losing existing data. This could be necessary in various situations and scenarios, such as when couples separate.

There is an additional fee for sharing

The function is already available in some countries and is also intended to prepare for the introduction of an additional fee when sharing accounts.

This applies to accounts that are not used solely in your own household. Overall, Netflix wants to increase its sales and the number of accounts.

The additional fee should in turn cost less than your own account. How high the fee is and when it will come exactly is still unclear.

Soon also with advertising

A cheap Netflix subscription, which is partly financed by advertising breaks, will also start in November.

The price is 4.99 euros per month, the cheapest Netflix subscription without advertising costs 7.99 euros per month.

For the 4.99 euros, you also have to do without certain functions, such as the ability to download content. What specific content is missing has not yet been announced.
