Netflix is gradually rolling out a new option for profiles. Settings, your own list, the history of viewed streams and the current streaming progress in a title can be quickly transferred to another account via profile transfer. For example, this is a handy feature for streaming fans who want to move their Netflix account to a different email address.
Looking a little more practically, the feature might be very welcome for people who share a Netflix account and who like to change the main account owner from time to time. The streaming service probably also has in mind that users will be less annoyed if account sharing is to be strictly prohibited in the near future.
Netflix says, that an e-mail will let you know as soon as the function is available. As shown in the screenshot above, by clicking on your profile picture you will have access to a profile transfer. After that, follow the instructions and specify the target account for your personal profile data. You will probably have to confirm the “move in” on the other side.
Netflix is under pressure. After a brilliant start in the first few years, rising costs and, among other things, account sharing ensure that income is declining. Among other things, this results in less content, but also an upcoming subscription, which is partly financed by advertising revenue and should bring the company better numbers again.
Plans to make it more difficult to share an account contrary to the terms of service have been underway for some time. In parts of South America, for example, IPs and device IDs are still being tested in a test to ensure that accounts are only shared according to their own terms.
