Sims 4 is now free and absolutely free, Sims 5 is in development, but it's still called Rene

As already announced, the basic game Sims 4 can be played for free from today, October 18th, 2022. Not just for a weekend, but truly permanently, Sims 4 goes Free-2-Play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series. Of course, the emphasis here is on “base game”, because as is well known, there are endless add-ons to buy for the successful title and most of them shouldn’t be part of the base game. But don’t worry, the free portion of Sims 4 can also keep you busy for a while if you want it and especially if you’ve never played The Sims before. Because EA saw that they were working on the next generation of Sims and wanted to get as many players on board as possible. Of course, the easiest way to do this is to start free of charge.

Here you can Download Sims 4 free for pcthe corresponding PlayStation and Xbox versions can be found in the stores.

The iconic Sims 4 Crystal is now free.

EA also gave a sneak peek at the new Sims, which isn’t called Sims 5 yet but is codenamed Rene. This is supposed to be reminiscent of renaissance, renewal and the like. Why not, everyone’s gonna call it Sims 5 for a while anyway. Above all, Rene wants to take care of the behavior and “thinking” of the Sims, which should develop further. The game should also be fun with the Sims alone, but also with other players and their Sims. The aim is to get a good deal closer to simulating civilized life.

Until then, the Sims 4 community is approached a bit by providing a platform for mods. In cooperation with Overwolf, the operator of Curseforge, it should be easier to share and present these mods. For EA, which otherwise relies heavily on their own add-ons, this is not such a small step. More will be revealed over the course of the year.
