Halo Infinite: details on the big winter update

343 Industries has revealed numerous details about the big Halo Infinite Winter update.

On November 8, 2022, the Halo Infinite Winter Big Update will be released and all content will be completely free for game owners and all Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Online network co-op campaign

The network co-op mode is possible with up to four players at the same time. So you can plunge into battle with up to three friends.

You don’t play the host’s game, but everyone plays their own score, with their own progress, which is then adopted. Everything is always saved for everyone in the co-op.

The player who made the least progress in the campaign counts as the starting point, if you will. So nobody misses anything in the campaign and nobody can interrupt your cutscenes, for example. Only you can do it yourself and it’s really about experiencing the full campaign and igniting the co-op mayhem.

Together you will then explore Halo Infinite, experience the exciting journey of the Master Chief and fight your way from the warship Gbraakon to the silent auditorium and the vast rubble landscapes of Zeta Halo itself.

You can move far apart in large areas, but it’s still about creating a co-op experience as well. If you go too far away, you will be moved to the other players to play together. The respawn radius is more than double what it was in previous Halo parts, so you’re really allowed to stray really far from your teammates in open areas. It’s not about the four of you just wandering around “doing your thing” in the partially open world of Halo Infinite, it’s more about holding on to the cooperative experiences.

If you die during combat, you will spawn in a safe area with all of your weapons when the other teammates are not in combat. And yes, it is also possible to (accidentally) kill each other.

The co-op campaign is aided by the additional mission replay, which allows you to jump back and forth between completed missions at will, giving you more 24 achievements to unlock offers. If you succeed, you have to kill a certain number of enemies in the passenger seat of a Warthog with Gravity Hammer.

Also coming are two new maps, a new mode called Covert One Flag, a 30 Tier Battle Pass, two events and Match XP. Continuing with the Forge Beta, which will allow all of you to unleash your creativity when it comes to creating new maps and much more. Additionally, two arena multiplayer maps from the Forge beta will appear: Argyle and Detachment. Detachment also features the game’s first teleporter, taking combat to the next level.

Covert One Flag

One team is the attacker and the other is the defender. Attackers have infinitely active camo and defenders have sensor in return. This creates a cat and mouse game to “taunt” the opponents.

Match XP

Starting November 8, 2022, just playing Halo Infinite will always award Match XP. If you play well and win, there’s a bit more Match XP than if you’re on the losing side. If you prove yourself in a team, you get bonus XP, if you fight to the end and give your all, you get bonus XP, and if you continue playing, you also get bonus XP. In addition, the Match XP will reward you much faster in the Battle Pass, which is why there will also be a 30 Tier Battle Pass. The Battle Pass is packed with stuff from Reach and other fun stuff: CQC and CQB. Attachments for the armor such as knives and more are also included.

Events

December will kick off with the Winter Contingency 2 Event, which will be followed by the Joint Fire Event in January.
