The beta of Diablo 4 is said to have started – this is how you check if you are there

First players report that they have been granted access to the Diablo 4 closed beta. Now fans are discussing how one is actually selected – and speculating on upcoming leaks.

What is this beta?

  • At the end of September, Blizzard announced that it would start a closed beta for the upcoming Diablo 4.
  • The beta is designed to test endgame content and is under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (“NDA”). So no information can be shared.
  • An exact start date was not included. But now the first players are reporting that they have received their invitations and can play (via reddit).
  • If you haven’t been accepted yet, you still have a chance of being invited.

Here’s how to check if you’re in: In the corresponding post on reddit, fans discuss who was invited to the beta test and who was not. Since nobody is actually allowed to talk about the test, the information is still sparse.

If selected, you should be able to find a Diablo 4 entry in your Battle.net client on PC and download the beta from there. You should receive an email confirming your invitation.

Important: Do not click on links in emails that you are unsure are actually from Blizzard. Normally your account will be activated directly via the launcher and the mail is only used as a notification.

Fans chat about who was invited and what people had to do to get an invite. Because Blizzard wants to have very special players to test this time.

Diablo 4 starts with 5 classes. The last release class, the Necromancer, was introduced with an impressive cinematic:

Blizzard distributes invitations to frequent players

Who is selected? in the blog post Blizzard already said that they wanted to invite players who spent a lot of time in the endgame of Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal.

The background is that endgame content from Diablo 4 should be tested. Veterans could better evaluate here what can be improved and where there are problems. A user reports on reddit that his father received an invitation. He usually plays a lot of Immortal.

Others said they didn’t play Immortal at all, just the ladder in Diablo 2: Resurrected or Diablo 3 for 2 weeks after the start of each new season. There was also the option to get tattooed for beta access.

A feature of Diablo 4 is already causing concern among players.

Registration for the beta was possible until October 11th. According to the blog post, the invitations should be sent out by November 18th. So just because you haven’t been invited yet doesn’t mean you haven’t been chosen.

Where can I learn more about the beta? The content of the beta is sealed and may not be streamed. In the past, however, that didn’t stop some players from leaking information anyway. Recently there was a 43-minute video with gameplay for Diablo 4 from the alpha.

The accesses are also usually marked with a watermark so that it can be traced who broke the NDA. Information about the new Hack’n’Slay can be found here on MeinMMO.
