The Sims 4 is now free: You must have these 6 expansions

Christmas in The Sims 4.

The Sims 4 was released in 2014 and its story is far from over. Electronic Arts and Maxis continue to release new content for the game. But the best news of recent history is: The Sims 4 is now free! So at least the main game, all the expansions still cost money.

But: A gift horse… Now you may be starting with The Sims 4 for the first time and you can already do a lot in the base game. All the better if this is now possible completely free of charge. Nevertheless, you may be wondering which expansions might be of interest to you. We have the answer: Here are six expansions that will significantly enrich the gaming experience!

The Sims 4: Seasons

As the name of the expansion suggests, it brings seasons into play. And not only this extension benefits from that, but also all others. There is no new game world, the existing ones are changing.

At the same time you have various seasonal activities, such as New Year, the Harvest Festival or the Winter Festival. You can let your Sims build snowmen and play in the rain, and of course there are tons of seasonal clothing and items to go with everything.

You can also have your Sim pursue a new gardening career and see if they have a green thumb or not.

The Sims 4: Dogs & Cats

Who doesn’t like dogs please? Or cats? At least one of the two. And with this expansion, you have both in The Sims 4! Need more reasons? Brindleton Bay awaits you as a new setting, here you can become a veterinarian and set up your own veterinary clinic to take care of the smaller and slightly larger four-legged friends.

You can also create your own dogs and cats based on different breeds, personalities and other details. Then engage with them to bond and play with them and teach them tricks. If you want, you can even give them clothes and accessories.

In short: If you like dogs and/or cats, you can’t avoid this expansion.

The Sims 4: City Living

The city of San Myshuno is your playground in the City Life expansion. Just right for you if you want to experience city life and start looking for an apartment. If you start with a simple apartment, you can later secure a penthouse in a skyscraper – speaking toilet included!

Likewise, you engage with your neighbors, build good (or bad) relationships with them, and attend various cultural festivals around the city. You’ll bond at the Romance Festival, followed by the Curry Challenge and Spice Festival.

And new careers are also part of this package. Have you always wanted to be a politician? No problem. Alternatively, you can engage in social media or become a restaurant or art critic.

The Sims 4: Island Living

Basically the opposite of big city life. You can chill out on an island on Sulani. Paddle around in your canoe, swim through the crystal clear water and play with dolphins. You will also engage with Sulani culture by studying local traditions and participating in festivals.

Those who cannot or do not want to leave the work on the island behind become a conservationist or lifeguard. Or you start a fishing career. If that doesn’t work out, there’s still the diving career. Of course there is also the right clothing and accessories for the beach holiday, after all, nobody should soak up the sun there in a fine suit.

The Sims 4: Get Together

The name says it all with this extension too. As a new option, there are groups where you select members and set exclusive meeting places for them. At meetings, they then follow your set rules, which opens up new playful possibilities for you.

It’s all happening in the new world of Windenburg, where you’ll find a hedge maze, enticing pools, and mysterious ruins, among other things. If you create your own groups or join ones, you can complete various activities such as table football and darts. Or you can butt-bomb everyone in the pool, that’s up to you.

As a DJ at the mixing desk, you will ensure relaxed dancing yourself. Or hit the dance floor to challenge other Sims to the dance competition. But don’t be embarrassed!

You also get matching outfits, even access to a starfighter is possible. Or to put it another way: Star Wars fans definitely can’t go wrong with purchasing this expansion.
