Rumor: Motorola is working on two new Razr smartphones for 2023

Motorola is rumored to be working on two new Razr smartphones that could be released next year. Previous attempts to revive the once popular range have met with little success. Nevertheless, the company could soon compete with the foldable market leader Samsung.

When Motorola released the Razr V3 in 2004, the mobile phone market was different. For the next four years, the clamshell sold out loud phone arena more than 130 million times. By 2020, the company presented two successors, the Razr (2019) and the Razr 5G. The Razr 2022, which is only available on the Chinese market so far, was released this year.

The new Razr models will be called “Juno” and “Venus”.

On October 19, information circulated that Motorola was working on two more smartphones in the line. As Androidcentral reported, the rumor goes back to a tweet by leaker Evan Blass. He writes that two new Razrs are planned for 2023. They are said to be codenamed “Juno” and “Venus”.

Motorola’s foldables have not been a competitor for Samsung so far

The Razr (2019) disappointed with weak hardware, a high price and could, like Sammobile writes, do not compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip. The portal also reports, the Razr 2022 will soon be available in Europe. With a price of over 1,200 euros, it would be more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Should Motorola actually present two foldables in 2023, the company could make real competition for Samsung. It is believed that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will not be released until the second half of the year. With an earlier release, Motorola would be able to take some customers away from Samsung.
