As soon as Nvidia’s new graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4090, is on the market, there are already rumors about a “Ti” version that could be released soon.
Santa Clara – On October 12, 2022, after a long wait, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 was launched. The graphics card represents the beginning of the new RTX-4000 generation and sets completely new standards with its enormous performance. Despite their best efforts, the graphics chipset manufacturer Nvidia was unable to provide sufficient hardware and the card was completely sold out at many specialist dealers after just a few minutes. But before the market can be served with enough graphics cards, hardware fans are already speculating on the announcement of a successor: the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti.

Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti – price, release and differences
What is the difference to the normal RTX 4090? Anyone who has ever been faced with choosing an Nvidia graphics card may have asked themselves this question. In the online shops you will find, for example, an “Nvidia GeForce 3090” and an “Nvidia Geforce 3090 Ti”. But what does this “Ti” mean? The answer to that is relatively simple. The “Ti” model of a graphics card from Nvidia is usually a stronger and more powerful model than the version of the graphics card without the “Ti” in the name.
The difference lies primarily in the performance of the graphics cards. For example, if you compare the Nvidia RTX 3070 with the RTX 3070 Ti, you will notice that the 3070 Ti has a higher memory bandwidth and more of the so-called “tensor cores” on board. In this case, this is reflected in a performance leap of around 7%. The TDP (the so-called power loss) is often higher in the Ti models. In addition, “Ti” cards often work a little more energy-efficiently than their base model. However, the video memory between the two graphics cards remains the same.
In short: “Ti” cards are a kind of “update”, which are nevertheless based on the same technology. However, “Ti” cards are usually a bit more expensive than their basic model, but hardware enthusiasts are often happy to accept the surcharge for more performance. The RTX 3090 in the “Founders Edition” cost €1640 to start with, while the RTX 3090 Ti in the “Founders Edition” went over the counter for a whopping €1899 (both RRPs). Nvidia’s competitor, the chip manufacturer AMD, also has a similar product range. Here the improved cards are marked with the letter suffix “XT”.
When will the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti be released? The successor model to the RTX 4090 has not yet been announced, which is not surprising, after all, the RTX 4090 was only released recently. But the rumor mill is already churning, because the new GA102 chip in the graphics card is supposed to have some performance leeway as soon as the hardware is a little more mature. Hardware experts assume that it will take around nine to twelve months before Nvidia could launch an RTX 4090 Ti. If you are interested in the RTX 4090 Ti, you should register with a hardware dealer early on in order to be able to pre-order the graphics card.
What will the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti costs? Since the card has not yet been announced, nothing is known about a possible price. But if you want to believe the rumors, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti will also be a good deal more expensive than the RTX 4090 basic model.
As a reminder, even the cheapest models of the RTX 4090 start at around €1900 and range in price up to around €3000 in the current market. If you then want to buy an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti for the release and in view of the high demand, you will probably have to dig deep into your pocket.
