The air in the German YouTube landscape is thick again. Tim Jacken and Saschka criticize each other – because of advertising for fast food and alcohol.

Hamburg – Advertising on YouTube is no longer a rarity, whether through the mysterious algorithm or as direct product placement in videos. The question of the right advertising partner and, above all, the right placement is always a difficult one. YouTuber and streamer Tim Jacken now shows that these advertising media can backfire. Influencer Saschka is currently criticizing him for advertising in his videos – but is it justified?

Tim Jacken and Saschka: Advertising for Krombacher and Burger King has been criticized

This ad is the problem: In the past few months, Tim Jacken (TJ) has worked with two major advertising partners on his channel. One is Krombacher brewery, the other is fast-food giant Burger King. An advertisement for the burger chain in particular is now under fire. Trymacs was also recently criticized for a sponsor.

In one of his past newsreels, for example, TJ built in a large advertising segment in which he and a friend had burgers delivered to them and then happily built them in front of the camera. All of this is reasonably declared as advertising in the video, but there are still some problems for influencer Saschka. In an extensive video, she criticizes the YouTuber for his advertising behavior.

Tim Jacken and Saschka: Beef because of advertising? This is how both YouTubers argue

Saschka criticizes: It’s clear to the YouTuber that TJ has gone overboard with the way he’s promoting fast food. Above all, she sees it as a problem that Tim Jacken does not point out the mostly unhealthy nature of the food in any way in the advertising. Sascha’s criticism: TJ would encourage young people to unhealthy and harmful eating habits, while he himself gets money for it.

In Saschka’s eyes, the same applies to Tim Jacken’s frequent collaboration with Krombacher. The YouTuber often presents himself with alcohol and would make these impressionable youngsters too palatable. Your view: Especially with sponsors like those of TJ, a disclaimer should be made that products such as alcohol or fast food have health downsides and should be consumed in moderation. Exceptions are okay, but a considered approach is still important.

TJ counters: Almost a week after the video, TJ has now also spoken out. In an almost half-hour video, he shows some of the criticisms of the “militant vegan” insightful, but firmly rejects some allegations. In the case of the video mentioned by Saschka, he missed the comment about regular fast food consumption and apologizes for it. At the same time, however, he refers to various moments in which he would have made such disclaimers on live streams and other occasions.

Tim Jacken is particularly opposed to the fact that Saschka brought his cooperation to Burger King in connection with the recent scandal surrounding a Wallraff documentary. In her video, she noted that Team Wallraff’s revelations only became public two weeks after the product was placed with TJ and that he could not have known about it. Still, according to TJ, she keeps linking the two subjects together, when the subjects aren’t actually related.

The difference of opinion between Tim Jacken and Saschka does not seem to have been settled yet. Other YouTubers, such as Staiy, who is currently at loggerheads with Twitch, have already commented on the problem and shown support for TJ on many points. Likewise, the opinions in the comments under both videos still differ widely. It remains to be seen whether and when a consensus will be reached on the matter, but Tim Jacken asserts in his video that he has no interest in starting real beef with Saschka.
