In WotLK Classic, protection warriors and protection paladins are on the hunt for a very specific item: The “Royal Crest of Lordaeron” is not only a very good shield for every tank, it also looks damn good! MeinMMO explains how you can easily grab the royal coat of arms.

What makes the shield so special? That “Royal Crest of Lordaeron‘ is one of the best items for tanks. The Crest provides a large amount of Stamina, Strength, Defense Rating, and most importantly, Hit Rating. The hit rating is what makes the shield so valuable because it is harder for tanks to get in WotLK than the required defense rating. Only with enough hit rating can they also build up enough threat.

You can hardly get a better shield at the moment. Many tanks use the coat of arms due to its values ​​until late in the expansion and into the last raids. In the first 3 raids of the expansion, the item is still considered one of the best choices.

This makes the shield even better: The “Royal Crest of Lordaeron” knows how to convince with its appearance: while most shields in WoW Classic look rather brute, this shield looks much more noble in comparison. It is decorated in the classic colors of the Alliance, blue and gold, and in the center proudly displays the crest of Lordaeron.

How to get the “Royal Crest of Lordaeron”

Where does the item drop? If you want to grab the royal shield, you have to visit the dungeon “The Culling of Stratholme” (also: HdZ 4) on heroic difficulty. This applies to both WotLK Classic and modern WoW. This dungeon is located in the Caverns of Time in Tanaris and you can get there easily and quickly through a portal in the Violet Citadel in Dalaran.

The “Royal Crest of Lordaeron” is obtained from a chest that you can open once you have defeated the final boss, Mal’Ganis. However, with a drop chance of around 16 percent, you might have to visit the dungeon several times before you are successful.

What needs to be considered? In WotLK you need a group of 5 players to successfully complete the dungeon. Even on heroic difficulty, it’s not that difficult. In modern WoW, on the other hand, you should be able to do it on your own without any problems. Although the dungeons take a little longer, there’s still a lot of fun to be had in Wrath of the Lich King if you’re short on time.

The matching mount is available right away: While battling the undead Scourge in Stratholme, make sure you try to defeat the Corruptor Eternal before time runs out. This is an additional boss that is only available in Heroic mode. If you do it before the time runs out, you get the Reins of the Bronze Dragon. an epic mount with a flight speed of 280 percent.
