CoD Modern Warfare 2: Disable and enable crossplay – this is how it works

You can play against players on other platforms in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, but you don’t have to.

Like its predecessors, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 also offers the option of cross-platform play. That means you can also gamble with PC or Xbox users if you are on a PS4 or PS5. The option is usually preset and activated. You can also simply disable them and enable them again later. Depending on what you’re in the mood for. We explain how this works here.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: How to turn crossplay on and off

Don’t want crossplay? No problem: If your squad is only on one platform anyway or you don’t want to compete against people with mouse and keyboard input devices, the crossplay option can also be easily switched off. This was already possible in the beta and will remain so in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

How it works: You have to be outside of matchmaking, then you can simply turn off the crossplay option. To do this, go to the settings, select “Options” from the menu and navigate to the tab aka the “Account” tab.

Under “Crossplay” you will find the options for cross-platform play. They can now either be deactivated or activated again if you have changed your mind. Otherwise, there is usually also the option of restricting crossplay communication to just one platform.

add friends also works across platforms. Of course, to play together you have to activate crossplay again. You can use your Activision account and your friends’ Activision ID to add friends. In the menu, under “Social,” you’ll find an option to invite friends and an option to do so using your Activision account.

There is also cross-progression: As long as you are logged in with your Activision account, all progress and unlocks will also be saved and transferred across platforms. You only have to be careful with the purchased CoD points: they can only be redeemed on the platform on which you bought them. Purchased content can then be used again on all platforms.
