New World: Cursed Apophis – How to solve the puzzle quest

In the new Brimstone Sands area in New World, there is a puzzle quest in the main story. In “Cursed Apophis” you have to insert the right runes and then press a switch. We reveal how you solve the puzzle.

How to solve “Cursed Apophis”? For the quest you have to explore a mysterious burial chamber. To enter this, you have to solve a switch puzzle. This is actually quite simple:

• Keep choosing new glyphs on the left switch until it says “XX”.
• Right shift selects new glyphs until it says “X”.
• You can recognize both markers by the fact that the quest marker then disappears

Now you have to turn around and activate a switch that is behind you. However, many people overlook this switch at the beginning and it is not mentioned in the quest text. The position of the switch corresponds approximately to this angle:

After the switch, a portal opens that takes you inside the vault. There you can collect the jar and the scroll and then travel back to New Corsica to find Imhotep there and complete the quest.

Glyphs and Heart Gems as special features in the new area

What’s up with the glyphs in general? The glyphs play an important role in the new Brimstone Sands area. You can use them to open portals and unlock additional chests. There are 26 of them in total.
