Even if the RTX 40 series is currently the measure of all things – the previous generation is still being built. Nvidia recently drew attention to itself with a slimmed-down version of the RTX 3060 Ti: Although it has less video memory, it comes with the faster GDDR6X memory and is intended to provide a small increase in performance.
As one of the first board partners, Asus has now released a new version of its TUF gaming graphics card, which is equipped with the same GDDR6X memory. Instead of 12 gigabytes, the new Asus TUF Gaming RTX 3060 Ti gets eight GB of video memory, like Asus in the associated shop page executes
The GA104 core that powers the RTX 3060 Ti is also found in the new Asus GPU. Accordingly, there are still 4,864 CUDA cores on board, but the faster graphics memory increases the bandwidth from 448 Gb/s to 608 Gb/s. Like the portal Videocardz reports that a performance boost of between seven and ten percent should be possible as a result.
Clock-wise, the new Asus TUF Gaming RTX 3060 Ti stays on par with the original GPU models. While the regular version gets by with a standard clock of 1,665 MHz and a boost clock of 1,695 MHz, the OC version has an additional clock of 90 megahertz. As usual, Asus also installs a triple fan solution for cooling the graphics card.
It is not yet known whether this custom design will remain or whether other manufacturers will follow suit. A Founders Edition from Nvidia for the RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB is also conceivable, but the company has not yet commented on it. one Videocardz leak according to this should already be in the starting blocks.
