Xbox Game Pass: Phil Spencer: I think at some point we need to raise the prices

Phil Spencer has commented on a possible price increase and announced that the prices of certain things probably cannot stay the same forever.

Phil Spencer spoke on a wide range of topics during the WSJ Live conference and also leaked that you can’t keep the prices on various things too low forever.

“We’ve held the price of our console, we’ve held the price of games… and our subscription. I don’t think we can do this forever. I think at some point we need to raise the prices of certain things…”

“I think at some point we’ll need to raise prices on certain things, but ahead of this holiday we felt it was important to keep prices the same.”

Sony already increased the price of the PlayStation 5 by 50 euros in August. It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will actually make the Xbox Series X/S more expensive.

When it comes to Xbox Game Pass and Ultimate subscription, many feel a price increase is long overdue. However, according to Phil Spencer, there will be no price change this year, which means that the Xbox Christmas gifts will not become even more expensive.
