The death knights will soon march into Hearthstone: the new class can do that
On December 6, 2022, Hearthstone will put the next expansion in Santa’s boots. March of the Lich King brings a new class, new mechanics, and an overhauled event system. The new expansion is already in presale.
Bloody, frosty, unholy – or rather all of it?
In total, the frosty expansion brings 203 new cards, including 68 cards for the new class, the death knight. This possesses the Hero Ability “Ghoulan Rush” to summon a 1/1 bull rush ghoul that dies at the end of a turn.
Each time a minion dies, it becomes “Corpse” – the new resource the Death Knight uses for itself. A corpse counter is attached below the mana bar.
There is also a rune system with which the death knights can specialize. You may only use three rune cards from a given pool per deck. There are blood runes that rely on control effects, frost runes with powerful frost spells, and unholy runes that strengthen your undead armies.
You can also combine runes, but a specialization is usually more useful in order to fully exploit the potential. The system is designed to balance the death knight so he doesn’t get too powerful.
Undead are easier to push around the field
The new undead minion type also plays a role in the new expansion. Many old maps have been updated to include some of these minions as undead as well.

The new Mana Thirst keyword gives cards an additional effect if you have enough mana crystals above the normal cost to trigger it. However, this additional mana is not consumed, it simply has to be available.
In addition, Blizzard has revised the event system in Hearthstone. They now have their own place in the user interface and the events also have their own entry in the diary.
The Knights of Hallow’s End event is now available. Running for two weeks, it will bring back the old maps from Knights of the Frozen Throne until the new expansion, March of the Lich King, goes live.
