New World fulfilled the biggest wish of the community – now enjoys over 100,000 players and full servers

New World is currently enjoying the highest number of players in 2022 after the MMORPG fulfilled a wish from the community.

What was the community’s wish? New World players wanted so-called “Fresh Start” servers, which the MMORPG then received on November 2nd.

When the Brimstone Sands release date was announced, players were already hoping for a “fresh start”. The most recent update of the MMORPG was released on October 18th, but without new servers for the time being.

A fresh start is a fresh start. So even before the release of Brimstone Sands, players wished that there would be servers where everyone has to start over and nobody can transfer their high-level character.

A Fresh Start primarily aims to impact the gaming experience of all players on the server. For example, the voluntary fresh start of a single person would not affect the economy – but it has to develop from scratch on a fresh server.

Player numbers will peak in 2022

What are the player counts? The release of Brimstone Sands already caused a sharp increase in the number of players to almost 70,000 players and the highest numbers since February 2022. The release of the new servers brought a renewed upswing.

On November 2nd, when the first fresh servers went online, the number of players on Steam climbed to a maximum of 119,000 simultaneously active players (via Steam Charts). The last time there was a comparable high value was in December 2021, when 117,000 players were on the servers. New World did not have more players than on November 2nd in the whole of 2022.

How busy are the servers? Many of the new servers are doing really well and even have queues, but some of the old servers have good player counts too. For example, Aaru has a solid 1,300 players and Asgard has 1,270 players (as of November 03, 2022, 5:30 p.m.).

Community is happy about the increase in the number of players

What are the players’ reactions? Not only the MMORPG is happy about the increased number of players, but also the community. Numerous players on reddit share screenshots of the forests, which are equipped with heaps of campfires, the players’ respawn points.

One user even writes that the Fresh Start experience brings tears of joy to his eyes:
