Paradox Interactive and Iceflake Studios joined us yesterday Shattered Hope the after New Alliances (in the game check) second expansion for their survival colony builder Surviving the Aftermath (in the game check) published.

In Shattered Hope, the moon has been destroyed and parts of it fall to the surface of the earth. However, this cataclysm also offers a silver lining in the form of moon rock deposits that you can collect to increase resource production. Survivors must band together to find “Hope” and persevere, or “Fear” will plague them. You must balance resources and survivors’ persistence in this human nature-centric expansion of Surviving the Aftermath’s colony management gameplay.

  • “Moonfall” and Building Boost: The moon is shattered in the sky and its fragments fall to the earth, leaving devastation in its wake – but also moon rock deposits. You can refine Moon Fragments and obtain Moon Dust, which can be used to increase the buildings’ production for a limited time. This new building boost mechanic is called Overtime.
  • Stay hopeful and have a good time: Hope is a new global value that diminishes in-game over time and disasters. If left too low for too long, it will trigger a new condition called “Fear” which, if left untreated, can make colonists hostile. So, hope must be kept as high as possible by hosting festivals in the new Colony Square building.
  • New Production Chains: When colonists experience the Fear state, you can build a trauma center to heal them. Thanks to a brand new drug called “Antistress” they will recover faster. In order to produce it, raw materials must be cultivated on the mushroom farm and then refined into the actual medicine in the medicine hut.
