Pokémon Go: What are the golden PokéStops for? The new Mon Gierspenst!
Ominous yellow Pokéstops and a new mon from the Paldea region, Greedwraith, have appeared in Pokémon Go as part of a crossover event involving Pokémon Crimson and Crimson. We summarize what this is all about.
With Pokémon Crimson and Crimson, a new Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch will be released shortly, the release of which is already casting its shadow in Pokémon Go. Because Niantic is running a special crossover between Pokémon Go and Pokémon Crimson, the effects of which you may have noticed for yourself on the mobile app if you played the Community Day Classic with Dratini.
Yellow PokéStops and gold coins provide puzzles
Because since the end of the Classic Community Day, more and more special PokéStops have appeared in the game, the photo disc of which is colored yellow-gold instead of blue. If you spin this photo disc, you will get a special coin that will end up in your inventory. Additionally, spinning the disc triggers dialogue between Professor Willow and Señor Jim, who is from the Paldea region and appears in Pokémon Crimson.
At the same time, once you get a coin from a yellow PokéStop, a new Pokémon called Greedspectre will appear on the map. Greedy Specter comes from the Paldea region and can appear as a wandering form and as a chest form – the first variant follows you across the map, but without being able to catch the Pokémon.
Exactly what we need to do to add Greedspectre to our Pokédex isn’t entirely clear yet. However, Niantic has stated in an official blog post that if we link Pokémon Go and Pokémon Crimson using Pokémon HOME, we can catch the wandering form of Greedy Specter. But we will probably only find out what role the golden coins play in this when crimson and purple are officially released on November 18, 2022.
