Lost Ark: Developers admit that the last raid was too difficult - but the next one will be even harder

In a conversation between the 3 senior developers of Lost Ark on the MMORPG’s 4th birthday, the tricky Legion Raids were among the topics discussed. They should be defused a bit in the future, but the next one will be really difficult again.

Where does the information come from? On November 7th, 2022 there was a live stream with the currently 3 leading developers of Lost Ark. These replaced the well-known Gold River in the leadership of the MMORPG after he resigned from his position in the summer due to health problems.

There it was all about the 4th birthday of Lost Ark and what else will come into the MMORPG in the future. Of course, the Legion Raids should not be missing. These are particularly difficult opponents for player groups of 4 to 8 people who are looking for a real challenge.

We have three of them in the west so far: Valtan, Vykas and Kakul-Saydon. The leader of the Phantom Legion, Brelshaza, is also scheduled to join us in December. But that should not please some fans so much.

Kakul-Saydon joined us just a few weeks ago:

What’s the problem with Brelshaza? While some western players were already complaining that Vykas was way too heavy, some of the veterans from Korea still scoffed on reddit and said we should wait for Brelshaza.

Because this crisp raid boss was harshly criticized even in Korea and Russia. While the previous Legion and Abyss Raids are divided into 2 and 3 phases respectively, Brelshaza has 6 of them.

They are then also so difficult that even experienced troops have difficulties again and again. The players have to play together perfectly and even the smallest mistakes are severely punished and can ruin the whole run.

Brelshaza not only requires absolutely flawless gameplay from each individual raid participant, but also seamless teamwork and mastering tricky co-op elements. And all this in a frame that is too much for even the toughest veterans.

Developers see problem, next raid still more difficult

How does Smilegate react to the criticism? Compared to the last Legion Raid Brelshaza, the current Raid, Akkan, seems significantly toned down. According to the developers, this was planned from the start. Akkan puts less excessive emphasis on the teamwork of the raiders and puts more emphasis on the skills of the individual, and he also forgives more mistakes.

This is a course that is well received by the community and should be maintained, but only with the raid after next. The next Legion Commander to defeat is Thaemine and he will also represent the next raid.

Since the planning and conception of his fight are already almost complete, he should not be revised or defused. The developers speak of a “very high level of difficulty” for the upcoming Legion Raids.

In addition, new ways to farm upgrade materials will soon come into play. This was too slow for many fans and made raiding less rewarding. However, Smilegate emphasizes that there will be no “Tier 4” for the time being, only new ways of collecting materials.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to the new raids or are the current ones too hard for you? Feel free to write it to us in the comments, here at MeinMMO.
