Avatar Anime: First Movie has a release date, but we have to wait a very long time for that

The first feature film about Team Avatar is still a long way off.

Already in June this year it became known that the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender after The Legend of Korra is far from over. Three major animated films are slated to spring from the franchise over the next few years, and a Netflix live-action series is also in the works. The latter will probably flicker across our screens much earlier, because the production has now announced the release date for the first of the three films: the October 10, 2025.

So it’s almost 3 whole years of waiting. The whole thing will then be produced by the newly founded Avatar Studios, which have the two creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko on board, as well as Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation.

With the two creators DiMartino and Konietzko Are the producers already known? Eric Coleman makes the team complete. The direction takes over Lauren Montgomerywho brings a lot of animation experience to the table and has also worked on the two anime series on which the films are based.

We know that about the story

Despite the long wait, there is at least some information about the story in the first film. In terms of content, it will revolve around Team Avatar, i.e. Aang and his friends. This could fill in some of the gaps between The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, from which time we’ve only seen a few snippets so far.

Sokka, Katara, Aang and Momo can even be seen on the big screen.

Of course there are also rumors about the other two planned films, for example one should be about Avatar Kiyoshi turn. So far there is hardly any information about the third member of the group. On the one hand, it would be possible that we Korra and her friends see again, on the other hand there were rumors about a film that is based on Fire Lord Zuko focused.

Unfortunately, we can only wait and hope for new information at the moment. The Netflix series that probably early 2023 comes out, hopefully it will pass the time until we can enjoy Team Avatar on the big screen.
