Jagex: Announce publishing deal for three games

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Publisher Jagex has inked a deal for three games, including adventure game ICONIC ISLAND: AN EARTHLOCK ADVENTURE.

Jagex, the leading publisher of community-focused games, today announced a three-game publishing deal with developer Snowcastle Games. Jagex Partners and Snowcastle Games will collaborate on three titles in the ’90s-inspired RPG adventure series Earthlock. The first of these titles is ICONI Island: An Earthlock Adventure, which launched into Early Access on Steam in August of this year.

Snowcastle Games is an independent developer based in Oslo, Norway. Founded in 2011, Snowcastle Games launched Earthlock in 2016 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Jagex Partners will be sponsoring the release of ikoni island: an earthlock adventure alongside the announced sequel earthlock 2, which is currently in development.

ICONI Island: An Earthlock Adventure is a beneficial crafting adventure game set in the Earthlock universe. ICONI Island is currently in Early Access on Steam and will continue to be developed in partnership with players collaborating online in a shared world. Earthlock 2 is the sequel to Earthlock and will have more details soon.

Jagex, known for the success of its RuneScape franchise, formed Jagex Partners in 2018 to provide publishing and operations services specifically tailored to the needs of third-party studios. Snowcastle will join a host of talented studios at the global home of community-driven games.

Jeff Pabst, Vice President of Third Party Launch and Partnerships at Jagex: “Snowcastle caught our attention when they launched the first Earthlock and we are very excited to be working together. At Jagex Partners, we focus on community-driven games that grow with their players. Snowcastle’s community-first approach to Earthlock aligns very well with what we’re trying to achieve here at Jagex. ICONI will take this approach even further as it evolves into a massive online adventure shared by its community of players.”

Bendik Stang, Creative Director at Snowcastle Games: “Jagex’s history of working with a large community of players to advance their game is very important to us. We’ve had a lot of success with Earthlock independently, but we knew that for ikonei and Earthlock 2 we needed a partner who would help us go further. Jagex Partners gives us the support we need to better communicate with our existing community about what they want and find new ways to invite people into the growing world of Earthlock.”

More details on Jagex Partners and Snowcastle’s upcoming titles will be announced in the coming months.
