According to a leak from @momomo_us, the Core i7-13700H and Core i5-13500H will not get any additional cores over their predecessors. This means that the performance jump to be expected would be significantly smaller than on the desktop.

In the desktop segment, Intel has already introduced the first six processors of the new Raptor Lake generation, making a significant leap over the predecessor Alder Lake. On the other hand, no Core 13000 CPUs have been released for notebooks, so there are neither official details nor independent tests. The well-known leaker @momomo_us has already published the first specifications for the Intel Core i7-13700H and the Intel Core i5-13500H.

No core upgrade

Specifically, @momomo_us shared a screenshot on Twitter without comment, listing the rough key technical data of two Acer notebooks. The processors mentioned and their core configuration are listed in these key data. Accordingly, the Core i5-13500H should have 12 cores and 16 threads, whereas the Core i7-13700H should have 14 cores and 20 threads.

In this respect, the two new processors would correspond exactly to their two predecessors, i.e. the Core i5-12500H and the Core i7-13700H. The breakdown into P and E cores would also remain identical at 4 to 8 and 6 to 8, respectively. In comparison with the desktop market, that would be a contradiction, because Intel has increased the number of E-cores here, in some cases significantly.

The new notebook models should therefore make a much smaller leap in multi-core performance than was the case in the desktop. All in all, only the new Raptor Cove architecture and potential adjustments to the clock remained for performance increases. Of course, there could also be differences in the cores of the other notebook CPUs – probably depending on how big Intel estimates the danger from AMD at the time of release.
