Crystal Dynamics, which is now owned by the Embracer Group, the studio is currently working on the next game of tomb Raider and co-developing Perfect Dark with The Initiative, but one project that fans have widely demanded is a revival of the dark fantasy series. Legacy of Kain.

Created by the creator from Uncharted, Amy Hennig, in 1997, the acclaimed franchise hasn’t seen a new release in nearly two decades. Recently, however, Crystal Dynamics sent out a survey to gauge the level of interest in a revival of Legacy of Kainwith questions about whether fans would prefer a remake, remaster, sequel, or full reboot, among other things.

As it turns out, the response to that poll has been positive, and Crystal Dynamics says it hears the demands of fans “loud and clear.” In an interview with Crystal Dynamics CEO Phil Rogers during Embracer Group’s recent earnings call (transcribed byVGC) stated.

“We wanted to get a community perspective on what players are looking for if we revisit the land of Nosgoth and our iconic IP, Legacy of Kain. In the past, we’ve found that surveys typically get between 1,000 and 3,000 responses, but when we ask people about Legacy of Kain, we get over 100,000 responses. 73,000 players completed it completely, and if you are one of them, we thank you very much, and we appreciate that it was a great effort since the survey was quite extensive.

We saw the news of our survey shared on social and press platforms and we really felt that this was a great way to reignite this passionate community of fans with this legendary series of games for PC and console. Rest assured, we hear them loud and clear, and will continue to update you on the possibilities for Legacy of Kain in the future.”

That’s not exactly an announcement of a new game, but at the same time, it makes it very clear that Crystal Dynamics is seriously thinking about bringing Legacy of Kainback somehow. Earlier this year, Embracer Group said that after the acquisition, the IPs owned by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal would not only receive sequels, but possibly remakes, remasters, and spin-offs as well.
