Today, November 18, 2022, Pokémon Crimson and Crimson is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch. There is also an important update available for download on the day of release that you should download.

  • Which update is it? Version 1.0.1
  • Available from: November 18, 2022

What does Pokémon Crimson and Crimson update 1.0.1 bring?

To make it short: Only version 1.0.1 gives you access to all of the online features of Pokémon Crimson and Crimson that you shouldn’t miss:

  • Tera Raid–Events: As in Sword and Shield, raid events where you fight specific Pokémon will take place regularly at certain times. Among other things, one has already been announced special Charizard raid event.
  • 4 player co-op: Explore the open world of Paldea with up to three other players, catch Pokémon together, organize a picnic, take photos together and much more.
  • battle station: Here you carry out online battles with other trainers worldwide and put your skills to the test. Ranked Battles are planned to be added starting December 2022, and you’ll also be able to participate in online tournaments starting Spring 2023.

Important information about the update: While you don’t need a Switch Online membership to download the patch, you do need the paid subscription to use the online features listed above.

Get a special Pikachu via Mystery Gift





If you’ve downloaded Update 1.0.1, you can also grab a special Pikachu. Simply use the in-game Mystery Gift feature and select the “Receive via Internet” option. You do not need an active Switch Online membership to secure the Pikachu.

Other bonuses for Pokémon Crimson and Crimson: Speaking of gifts, if you’ve played an old Pokémon offshoot on the Nintendo Switch, such as Legendary Arceus or Radiant Diamond/Shining Pearl, you can use your old save to grab special Rotom phone cases that you can equip in-game.
