Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro Review

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro Review

With each generation of technological devices for mobile communication, we very often find a parallel generation of peripherals that evolve at equal speeds.

Today, smart cell phones bring all kinds of additional gadgets to connect to, to symbolize a point of convergence between all the technological conveniences of the modern world.

Whether it’s from a watch or wireless headphones, to a home security system; the possibilities and benefits of these peripherals do not seem to have limits.

The new wireless headphones in the Samsung and Android quadrant

After the launch of the new generation of Samsung Galaxy, among which we had the pleasure of reviewing the Galaxy S22+; their companions came, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro.

A pair of headphones that promise high-fidelity audio and caliber noise cancellation. Promising to join the wireless headset competition of the day for a majority.

Offered in 3 colors; black, purple and white. The Buds 2 Pro come in a more professional and robust presentation than their predecessors.

The box/cartridge that the new Buds come in brings with it quite rigid and determined magnetic contacts.

The same, it provides a higher level of security and denotes a high and durable construction quality. Not to mention, we now have IPX7 water resistance.

However, the case may or may not be to your liking, as the cover is made of a soft, almost rubbery plastic, which incidentally claims to offer itself as a premium material for certain items.

However, in regular environments such as pockets, purses, cases or anything that is not on top of a desk; lends itself to marks, scratches and other aesthetic alterations.

Excellent sound quality that unfortunately proves selective

Our headphones 100% surprised in terms of sound quality.

When wireless headphones for mobile phones achieve such low frequency reproduction, it is because there was work and effort behind the scenes.

The frequency curve is shown, contrary to what most similar offers provide us, with strength and harmonic amplitude at high and low frequencies; keeping the stockings at bay and preventing the audio from sounding stiff.

For the purposes of an immersive experience, the Buds 2 Pro also feature an extremely convincing active noise cancellation system.

Something that many producers, myself included, are not fans of, due to how active noise cancellation treatment can affect the integrity of the perceived audio.

However, in this case and taking things for what they are. The ANC in our Buds 2 Pro comes with a pretty convincing quality that will leave the vast majority of regular users completely satisfied.

An exquisite combination of Bluetooth 5.3 and SBC, AAC and “Samsung Seamless Codec” codecs add to the list of positive attractions.

However, the pinnacle of audio quality that they can offer happens through the “Samsung Seamless Codec”, an exclusive digital audio encoding of the brand, which will not be available to any other brand that works under the Android operating system.

But… Are they recommended for gaming?

Partially…

The Buds 2 Pro will be great for casual and turn-based gaming where the common user wants to hang out while queuing at the bank.

Having Bluetooth 5.3 suggests a lower latency level than is known among wireless headphones.

While you can have a debate about it, in reflex-demanding video games where split-seconds are critical, you’re going to notice latency that doesn’t normally exist in wired headsets.

To correct, we have access to a “game mode” that aims to correct factors such as signal and audio latency. However, in our opinion, it still falls short when compared to the standard of wireless peripherals for competitive and professional gaming.

Adding to the problem is battery life and how it is reduced with gaming mode and noise cancellation. This leaves us with a duration range of 3 to 6 hours per charge that will depend on our configuration.

Anyway…

With its ups and downs, the Buds 2 Pro is a competent peripheral that promises results when it comes to everyday use and casual gaming.

Unfortunately, its maximum splendor is not something that can be accessed without a Samsung cell phone at hand.

Audio quality, comfort of use, on-point noise cancellation and state-of-the-art audio codecs; for a relatively high price for the common user.
