Pokémon Go referral code: how to invite friends? short guide

Pokémon Go: Ultra Beasts Arrivals: Worldwide - Catch all the Ultra Beasts! (1)

During the Astral Eclipse in Pokémon Go an additional event is activated, the Ultra Beasts Arrival: Worldwide. As part of this, there is a challenge for all trainers worldwide to activate a decoy module and ultra balls for catching the ultra beasts together, but only after 50,000 or 100,000 friends have been invited to the game. This feature also features items that you can earn when your invited friends reach certain in-game milestones, such as logging into Pokémon Go, defeating Team Rocket Grunts, or redeeming 20 Shadow Pokémon.

So refer-a-friend works a little differently than simply sharing a trainer code, especially since the code is shorter. So the trainer code is there to link you to Pokémon Go trainers who are actively playing the game. The friend recommendation is used to either bring completely new players to Pokémon Go or to encourage trainers who have been inactive for at least 90 days to play again. So how does friend referrals work in Pokémon Go?

This is how the referral code works in Pokémon Go

Open the game and call up your trainer profile by clicking on your avatar at the bottom right. Then go to the “Friends” tab in the top right corner and then select “Recommend”. If you select “Share your referral code”, you can share it directly via Messenger or social media. Alternatively, you can save your code to the clipboard via “Copy your referral code”.

This code can only be accepted by players who either do not yet have a Pokémon Go account or who have been inactive for at least 90 days. The code must be redeemed within 72 hoursto qualify for the referral bonuses shown below. You can view referral bonus progress by clicking on the referred friend’s profile. However, if your friend list is full, neither you nor your friend will receive the bonuses – you must first “kick” another friend from the list in order for your accounts to be linked and for you to receive the bonuses. The milestone rewards are not automatically added to your inventory, you must actively claim them.
