DU special: 10 years ago (2012) // Planned user gallery [Update] – News

Update from 11/30:

Some users are already scratching their hooves, now the time has come: The entry form is available. From now on you can submit your contributions for the DU special gallery “That’s what our users played in 2012”. Even those who have not yet registered are of course cordially invited to take part. Simply submit your contribution using the form and let us know quickly in the appropriate forum thread. It is not necessary to name the game covered – that can remain a surprise. The form is structured according to the usual template and is also self-explanatory for newcomers – if you have any questions, you are of course welcome to contact me. Deadline is the 18 December 23:59:59. I hope that all registered contributions have been received by then – then the gallery can appear until Christmas. And now have fun remembering and writing it down. 🙂

Better late than never: Before the year 2022 draws to a close, we want to look back. For the first time for the GG anniversary in 2019, there was a special edition of the DU gallery under the motto “Our users played this 10 years ago”. The campaign was repeated in the following years 2020 and 2021 and now the series is to be continued on time. So the focus is on the year 2012. If you want to take part, you can tell the GG community what you played that year.

It is not a matter of listing all the titles. The idea is to give a detailed presentation of the game or games that you liked the most during the year, have engaged with you the longest, or have something special in common with you. As with regular DU Galleries, this isn’t just about titles released that year. Anyone who caught up on a classic or a title from the previous year can also report on it. If you have a particularly large number of stories ready, two posts per user are also possible. The text can be up to 1,800 characters long per post. Of course, a gallery+ always includes a picture. A self-made screenshot from the game presented would be ideal. If, understandably, there is none, it is advisable to take a look at the screenshot galleries in the GG profile of the respective game.

If you want to jog your memory and were already active on GG 10 years ago, you can browse to see if there are still helpful posts in the forum. Collective threads such as What did you play last?, What did you last play through? and your latest games! Newer users are of course also welcome. As a look back at the top ten of 2012 shows, the year certainly wasn’t lacking in highlights. At that time, the editors chose the Schleich hit as number 1 Dishonored – The Mask of Wrath. A very influential title was the successful reboot Xcom-Enemy Unknown. Adventure fans rejoiced over Season 1 of the Walking Dead and two parts of the landfill-Row. There was also a flood of strong third parts: Mass Effect, Diablo, far cry and Assassin’s Creed were definitely impressive in version 3.

As in previous years, we are aiming for at least 15 participants (and have always managed to do so). If it is reached, a participation form will be released. Hopefully the gallery can be published in the course of December – if you participate!
