Plans to release a console designed for dogs have been detailed by a start-up called joipaw.

The company is the brainchild of friends and co-founders Dersim Advar and Marco Jenny, who describe themselves as “animal lovers, gamers and scientists.”

As reported by Axiosthe Joipaw console allows dogs to play games designed to provide physical and mental stimulation to man’s best friend.

While initially envisioned as a means to alleviate the co-founders’ pup’s boredom and separation anxiety when home alone, Joipaw claims the console also has the potential to offer cognitive benefits for dogs, and could even be used for help delay the onset of canine dementia

Dogs use their nose to play on the console’s touch screen and are rewarded for correct choices via an integrated treat dispenser.

Joipaw’s games include a hit-a-mole challenge and a test to see if the dogs can pick which side of a picture contains the most bubbles.

Advar told Axios that he also wants to make a game where dogs and human players compete against each other to avoid the hedgehogs’ spikes.

Joipaw’s website states: “Our company offers a holistic approach to preventative dog health care. We combine cognitive and physical stimulation in the form of a custom console for dogs, a wearable device, and a software platform that allows you to track your dog’s health indicators.
