Pokémon Crimson and Crimson: In PvP, chance is not random at all, some players report

Something crazy is happening in Pokémon Crimson and Crimson. Players are reporting that your luck with the hits you land in the PvP stages isn’t random, as it should be. Rather the opposite is the case.

A little too predictable

Reddit users Lord Trolldemort found out that the random number generator, which is supposed to regulate the accuracy of the moves randomly, always uses the same value in the first move. This means that the accuracy with which you hit and miss attacks can be predicted. If you use this correctly in multiplayer, you could gain a huge advantage.

“Since I started recording I’ve played 14 fights where Icebreath was the first accuracy check and 14 times Icebreath didn’t work. For those doing the math, that would be a one in 100 trillion chance if the RNG would work correctly,” says the Reddit user. So on the first turn, you need skills with at least 91 percent accuracy, the players conclude.

Twitter user Anubis has noticed something similar and shares his own experiences on the platform.

“The Pokémon Crimson Battle Stadium currently uses the same RNG value for each battle,” Anubis writes. So you could calculate the probability and always land different combinations in theory and refers to the Reddit post.

In PvE battles against wild Pokémon in tall grass, the Sizzle Desert, or other locations, players don’t seem to have this problem. In addition to the poor performance of the game, which is easy to endure – so far I’ve always ignored that well – a malfunctioning RNG for ranked mode is really something that urgently needs to be fixed with a patch, if that’s actually the case. So far, there has been no official statement from Nintendo or Game Freak.
