Pokémon GO kicks off Mega Raid Day with 3 new Megas this weekend

This coming weekend, Pokémon GO will have a Hoenn-themed raid day featuring Mega Pokémon. There are also increased shiny chances, bonuses and an optional ticket. We show you all content.

What is this event? This is a raid event that focuses on raids with Mega Pokémon. You can then find many raids for a few hours.

There are also bonuses that give you more passes so you can join the fights. Other bonuses affect the caught Pokémon’s Shinys, Candies, and attacks.

At the same time, the Niantic team is confirming the Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn, which will run in 2023.

Mega Raid Day: Hoenn on December 3, 2022

When does it start? The Hoenn Raid Day starts on Saturday, December 3rd at 14:00 local time. It is then active for a few hours and ends again at 17:00 local time.

What new Pokemon are there? For the first time, you’ll meet Mega Sceptile, Mega Sumpex, and Mega Blarney. They’re making their in-game debut for the event.

What bonuses are there? The three Mega Pokémon reward you for catching them. Then:

  • After catching, Gewaldro learns the Charged Attack Flora Statue
  • Once caught, Sumpex learns the Aqua Cannon Charged Attack
  • After the catch, Lohgock learns the loading attack Lohekanonade

Other bonuses have a general effect on the event:

  • You can get up to five additional free Raid Passes by spinning arena photo discs during the event
  • The chances of Shiny Gewaldro, Shiny Sumpex, and Shiny Blahgock are increased during the event

The optional ticket: If you want, you can buy a ticket for the event and thus increase your bonuses. The ticket costs 5 US dollars (between 4 and 5 euros). If you buy this, you will unlock the following bonuses during the event period and beyond (3 December from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.):

  • Six more additional Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs at Arenas (12 in total that day)
  • 50% more experience points for raid battles
  • Double Stardust for Raid Battles
  • Increased chances of XL special candies (there is no exact number of chances)

The ticket can also be gifted to friends.
