Sonic Frontiers: Lays the groundwork for future Sonic games

Sonic Frontiers lays the groundwork for more Blue Hedgehog games, Sonic Team’s Takashi Iizuka once again confirmed.

With the open game world in Sonic Frontiers, SEGA is pursuing a new approach that should also last for other games.

In a recent interview with sector.sk Team Principal Takashi Iizuka talked about using Sonic Frontiers as a cornerstone for future games while honoring the blue hedgehog’s roots.

“Just like with Sonic Adventure, our goal with Sonic Frontiers was to create a game that would lay the foundation for future Sonic games. It’s a brand new approach to the franchise, but we knew we also had to honor Sonic’s roots – the game still had to feel like a Sonic game.”

“Our goal with Sonic Frontiers was to evolve the linear, stageless 3D action that began with Sonic Adventure in 1998 into a new action-packed adventure game where players have the freedom to explore.”
