The Super Mario Bros. Movie – New story and character info in second trailer

In the new and really detailed trailer for the Super Mario Bros. film, many well-known and popular characters from countless Nintendo games appear. In addition to Mario, Toad and Bowser, we finally see Princess Peach, Donkey Kong and many more. But they don’t skimp on allusions and homage either, on the contrary. We see a Mario Kart race, typical Jump&Run sequences and and and. A real firework!

Super Mario Bros Trailer Shows Off Countless Iconic Characters And Game Elements

Heaps of fan favorites: As you can see from the trailer above, almost all characters from the Super Mario cosmos are apparently there. After the first teaser trailer actually only showed Bowser, Mario and Toad, there is now confirmation that there are many, many more iconic characters.

For most, it’s more or less a given that they’d appear in a Super Mario Bros. movie. For example with Luigi, after all he is one of the two eponymous Super Mario brothers. Nonetheless, it’s just soothing and nice to see previously unseen characters like Peach in action.

There are also surprises: For example, I wasn’t exactly expecting to see a Mario Kart race or the popular Rainbow Road track in this trailer. The Smash Bros. scene with Donkey Kong should also make many fans happy. Just like the moment, which is easy to miss but directly shows many different colored Yoshis.

The Yoshis also appear in the Super Mario Bros. movie!

The Yoshis also appear in the Super Mario Bros. movie!

These characters are included:

  • Super Mario (Chris Pratt)
  • Luigi (Charlie Day)
  • Bowser (Jack Black)
  • Peach (Anya Taylor Joy)
  • Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen)
  • toad
  • Yoshi
  • Cranky Kong
  • various Koopas

On the karts in the background Apparently there are more characters, such as Diddy Kong, and one character may even be Wario.

Especially cool to see is also that power-ups like Mario Cat or the Fire Flower find their way into the film. Princess Peach can apparently throw small fireballs after touching the plant.

Of course, the passages that show Super Mario in classic platform challenges are also very charming – which he apparently does not seem to be able to cope with directly.

Last but not least, Mario also unleashes some of his signature exclamations. That rounds the whole thing off properly and gives the impression that absolute fan service is coming our way.

How do you like the second trailer for the Super Mario Bros. movie? Who or what are you still missing?
