Need for Speed Unbound’s prologue is lengthy, but that’s also a problem
The beginning of Need for Speed Unbound lasts about 90 minutes. But then there is a nasty surprise.
Need for Speed Unbound will be officially released on December 2nd, owners of the Palace Edition have been able to play the racing game since November 29th. We’ve also hit the streets extensively in Lakeshore City and are currently testing Need for Speed Unbound. In it you will read all the important pros and cons about the game, but we noticed one thing in advance in the prologue.
Because like other series parts, Need for Speed Unbound has a fairly typical beginning section. That means you choose a starting car, try your hand at the first races, explore the open game world and can even start buying things with your earned money. However, the game never communicates that this is a prologue, and that becomes a problem later on.
Because of the large length of this section (approx. 90 minutes), the illusion is created here that it is already the “right” game, for example the car that you will keep in your garage permanently. But that’s not the case.

Caution: We therefore warn against putting too much time, expectations and, above all, too much heart and soul into this section of the game. Because the progress you have made is worth nothing after the approx. 90 minutes mentioned. Because of a story event, your garage is robbed. This means that both the selected starting car and the money earned up to that point are completely gone and you then start again from scratch – then in the “real” game.
So it’s important to know that the first hour and a half of Need for Speed Unbound doesn’t earn you anything, this section is just there to introduce you to the scenario and the basics of the game. However, the game already suggests something else here, which can then lead to disappointment.
Therefore once again expressly: The actual Need for Speed Unbound starts after about 90 minutes.
