Pokémon GO starts 2023 with a real bang: The first big event will introduce two legendary monsters that will be stronger than all other Pokémon.

San Francisco – Just a few days ago, developer Niantic announced that a very special event will take place in Pokémon GO in February 2023 in the new season “Mysterious Wishes”. On the “Hoenn Tour” the focus of the game is placed entirely on the third Pokémon generation and its legendary monsters. For about two days, the trainers then have the chance to fill their PokéDex with monsters from the popular Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire editions. But the highlight of the event will clearly be the two legendary Pokémon Groudon and Kyogre in their special development form. We explain why ambitious trainers can already look forward to the event and why Groudon and Kyogre could become the strongest Pokémon in the entire game.

Pokémon GO: Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre – All About the Legendary Monsters

When are the two Legendary Pokemon coming? Since December 1st, 2022, the ninth season in Pokémon has been running, which is themed “Mysterious Wishes”. During the spring Hoenn Tour, the two legendary monsters Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre will be introduced to the game as part of a special research. We explain why the Hoenn Tour is also a must for all Pokémon GO players in our accompanying article with all the known information about the event.

Why are Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre so strong? Grouduon and Kyogre are already two legendary, very powerful monsters in Pokémon GO. But if we take a look at the official statistics, it becomes clear that the two monsters gain significantly more attack power due to their proton forms. Primal Kyogre even ranks ahead of all Mega Evolutions in the Water-type Strength chart, with only Ash-form Quajutsu ranking higher. With the event, Proto-Kyogre becomes the second strongest water attacker in the game, assuming appropriate attacks. Primal Groudon is also the strongest fire attacker in Pokémon GO, even surpassing Mega Blarney.

What do the Proto Forms do in Pokémon GO? The Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO last only eight hours each and are temporary. The Pokémon then evolve back to their normal form. However, it is not known how the proto-developments in Pokémon GO will behave. So it is not unlikely that the power increase of Groudon and Kyogre could be short-lived. Unfortunately, we will have to wait a while for the details until developer Niantic provides final clarity.

Pokémon GO: Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre – How to get the strong monsters

How do you get Legendary Pokemon? The two legendary Pokemon in their proto forms are expected to be introduced with the in-game special research during the Hoenn Tour. However, it is not yet exactly clear what you have to do to get the chance to catch the two legendary monsters. In the main games of the series, Groudon and Kyogre can only attain their powerful proto form with the help of certain gems. To what extent Pokémon GO will implement this “protomorphosis” is currently unknown. So it remains exciting.

What events are coming up in Pokémon GO? The next big event that you shouldn’t miss will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 in the form of a mega raid.
