WoW players are celebrating failing the best new feature in Dragonflight – even Blizzard is getting in on it

For many players, dragon riding is already the best feature in WoW Dragonflight. Not everyone gets along with the “elan” system, but they take it with humor and process their failure in memes. Even Blizzard joins in and hits just the right note.

Which feature is it? Dragon Riding is one of the new features in Dragonflight. You get your first kite quite early in the campaign, which you can use to fly around the Dragon Isles. You can even customize these dragons visually.

You can’t fly regularly in the new areas, but only with the help of the dragon – that’s for two. The special thing is that the kites cannot simply fly at any time, but are subject to quasi-physical laws.

Instead of floating permanently, you have to be able to soar into the air and stay there. As you descend, you’re faster and gather “Elan” that you can use to use dragon abilities like a boost forward or an upswing.

If you climb higher and higher, you will lose momentum and at some point your kite will run out of breath. You slowly sink to the ground and the flight is over until you regain your momentum.

For many, dragon riding is already the best new feature and they want it to permanently replace “normal flying” in all of WoW. You can see the gameplay here:

This is what players are concerned about right now: In the community, dragon riding is one of the biggest topics. Dragonflight started with a number of problems, but at least here almost everyone agrees: Riding dragons and exploring the world is terrific. There are also races against the time to push the feature even further.

The only problem is that many fail with the Elan system. They try to get to particularly high places and then misjudge. Instead of landing cool in elevated positions, their kites run out of breath and slowly flutter back down in the descent of shame.

Especially when trying to get the coveted Dragon Glyphs, many fail at the last meter and share their shame with others:

Blizzard shows video, players feel caught: “It’s too real”

Through the glyphs you improve the abilities of your dragon. You get more vigor, it recharges faster or you get things like a shield after landing. Accordingly, many players try to collect the glyphs.

However, this is rather difficult, especially at the beginning, because some of the glyphs are difficult to reach. If you then still have little vigour, you will fail. By the way, if you need help: This is how you can quickly and easily find all dragon glyphs in Dragonflight.

Blizzard comes with one of their own Videos on Facebook exactly addressed these failures and fans share it on reddit:

Instead of feeling ridiculed, the thread gets thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments on reddit. The players share stories that we have also experienced:

I was trying to get to the highest glyph in Valdrakken and slipped down the platform – only to find two other players stuck there as well. Both waved at me.

Others are annoyed, jokingly, who have recorded their gameplay and forwarded it to Blizzard or say: “It’s too real. For the highest points I had to make stops and recharge my batteries.”

If you already have all the glyphs, or don’t want to be at the mercy of setting up camp with other players in the middle of the mountain, why not check out the new Singles Club – when you come in:
