A mouse family in Crimson & Crimson Pokémon is so strong that it can defeat many opponents with just one attack

In Pokémon Crimson and Crimson, a supposedly weak family of mice can single-handedly take out entire teams with a single attack. MeinMMO shows what makes them so strong:

Which Pokemon is it? The Pokémon Famieps comes from the new games Crimson and Crimson and is a mouse family consisting of three to four small mice. It is the evolution of Zwieps and is a Normal Pokémon.

Famieps does not boast exceptionally high strength or speed, nor does it have a very strong ability. The Pokémon benefits from its signature moves.

A family of mice plagues opposing trainers

Why is Famieps so strong? The mouse family has an enormously powerful attack called “Population Bomb”. Mice Plague only has a base power of 20 and an accuracy of 90%, but it can hit up to 10 times (!).

If the attack actually hits all 10 hits, Mice Plague has a total base strength of 200. In order to ensure that you hit as many versions of Mice Plague as possible, you can increase the accuracy with items such as “Big Lens” or “Loaded Cube”.

Famieps can also have the Technician ability, increasing the attack’s base power by 50%, to 30. Plague of mice then has a power of 300 – this is stronger than “Hyper Beam” and “Gigablast”.

In addition, Mice’s Plague is a STAB move for Famieps, increasing its power to 450 again. If you teracrystallize Famieps to the type “Normal”, Mice Plague even reaches a base strength of 600.

What is STAB? STAB stands for “Same Type Attack Bonus”, which means something like “attack bonus for the same type”. So when a Ghost Pokémon like Friedwoof uses a Ghost attack, it gains a damage bonus. This is normally 50% of the attack strength.

Does Famieps have other strengths? Although Famiep’s strength mainly comes from the Mice Plague move, the Mice family can learn other moves that will be useful in battle.

So come attacks like Pummel or Crunch, which Famieps can use to hit Ghost Pokémon, and Bullet Seed to defeat Rock-type enemies.

With “Clean up” Famieps also has a second signature attack with which you can remove the effects of Stealth Rock, Poison Spikes, Spikes and the Substitute and thus even have a supportive effect.

A helmet becomes a mousetrap

How can you counter Famieps? The simplest and probably most effective way to defeat an opposing Famieps is the Dented Helm item.

If a Pokémon wearing a Dented Helm is hit by a physical attack, the attacker loses one-sixth of its total Life Points.

This effect of Dented Helm is triggered with each of the 10 possible hits of Mice Plague, which means that Famieps does not survive 7 hits if his opponent is holding the item. In this case, Famieps defeats itself within one turn.

Also, Famiep’s strength is largely based on the move Mice Plague, and because it’s a Normal move, it won’t hit Ghost-type Pokémon. Since Famieps doesn’t have exceptionally high values, you can use strong ghost Pokémon with appropriate attacks as a counterattack.

Is Famieps too strong? For the normal playthrough of the story, Famieps is definitely a very strong companion. The mouse family is also proving to be very good in competitive Pokémon battles, but not too strong.

The weak stats in combination with an opposing Ghost Pokémon or a dented helmet are too effective as a counter to classify Famieps as “too strong”.
