Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer: Sony wants to grow by making the Xbox smaller

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Xbox boss Phil Spencer said in an interview that Sony wants to grow by making the Xbox smaller.

Phil Spencer got into one podcast asked some questions and also found clear words against Sony. In his opinion, Sony is only concerned with making the Xbox smaller in order to promote its own growth.

Xbox players are familiar with this process, and Sony contracts with third-party manufacturers who ensure that the Xbox is kept “small” by not making games for Xbox in the first place or by releasing them at a significantly later date. Sony even bans other companies from offering their games in Xbox Game Pass. Sony pays for games not to end up in a subscription, as has been known since August 2022.

Phil Spencer said in an interview that Sony is the only major opponent of the deal and that Sony is trying to protect its dominance by keeping the Xbox brand small.

Phil Spencer commented, “Sony is trying to protect its dominance on the console. The way they’re growing is by making Xbox smaller.”

“[Sony] has a very different perspective on the industry than we do. They don’t ship their games on PC on a daily basis, they don’t put their games in their subscription when they release their games.”

“Sony are leading the dialogue about why the deal shouldn’t go through to protect their dominant position on consoles and what they’re holding on to is Call of Duty,” Spencer said second request.

“The world’s largest console maker is objecting to the one franchise we’ve said will continue to appear on the platform. It’s a deal that benefits customers through choice and access.”
