Throne and Liberty: Global launch confirmed for the first half of 2023
NCSoft executives recently released a 10-minute video featuring several developers introducing the upcoming online role-playing game, Throne and Liberty. Among other things, there was confirmation: The ambitious MMORPG should be released worldwide for PC and consoles in the first half of 2023.
who our Preview the most exciting RPGs and MMOs of 2023 has read, will unfortunately have found very few online role-playing games in this one (but all the more single-player RPGs). The main reason is that exciting projects like Ashes of Creation, ArcheAge 2 or the LoL MMO will probably not come out this year.
Perhaps the biggest MMO highlight this year could possibly be Throne and Liberty. Of the first gameplay trailer from last year looked promising, plus NCSoft has a great deal of experience when it comes to releasing an online roleplaying game (although not all projects have been a success, right, WildStar and Tabula Rasa?).
Launch in the next six months!
Already in September 2022 we were able to report that those responsible for NCSoft release the new MMORPG in 2023 want. Now there was confirmation via press release: Throne and Liberty should be released worldwide in the first half of the year for PC and consoles. Even before the announcement, a ten-minute “Director’s Preview” went online on the official YouTube channel, in which several developers introduced the online role-playing game. You can watch the video below:
Here are the key takeaways from the video:
- Throne and Liberty is aimed at all players and therefore offers many opportunities and freedom to let off steam in the game world.
- The theme of freedom also plays a role in the design of the dungeons. These consist of several levels and areas, but all rooms should be connected. For example, you can travel to the lowest level immediately if you wish.
- Factors such as the weather, day-night change and environmental conditions should influence the coherent, persistent game world.
- There is no rigid class system in TL. Instead, your chosen weapon determines your role in combat. You can combine two weapon types in the battles or switch back and forth flexibly between these two weapons.
- Each weapon type provides you with defensive moves that you can use to protect yourself in battle.
- There is PvP in the open world, but only in certain regions and only when certain events or boss raids are taking place there.
- There will be leaderboards for this regional open-world PvP. Guild wars with sieges are also possible. Guilds can only occupy certain locations (stones of property) in order to unlock bonuses. These locations must then be defended against other guilds.
- The developers promise optimally adapted interfaces for the PC and console versions. You should even be able to play TL on mobile devices via the streaming function.
- There will be a variety of options in character creation to meet the needs of players around the world. It is even possible to create a character based on a real photo.
- A lot of time should already have gone into fine-tuning and optimization so that TL runs as smoothly as possible despite the large number of players.
