After the end of 1899: fans start an online petition to save the Netflix series
The news came as a surprise and hit the fans of the new mystery series 1899 ice cold: Netflix has it new series hit of the Dark makers Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese entered Dismissal for a second season given – and that, although the series internationally with positive reviews and awards. But now after only one Season with 8 episodes the Trip ended early.
The two showrunners and producers of the German production have shared the bad news with the fans and of course hope that it will somehow go on will. What is 1899 about?
Set in the late 19th century, the action follows the crew of an emigrant ship sailing from Europe across the Atlantic to New York. A colorful mix of passengers from different countries gather on board the Kerberos, all of whom have one thing in common. They left their old life behind to start a new life in the USA.
Then the captain of the Kerberos receives a call for help from another emigrant ship, which appears to be the lost Prometheus. Against the wishes of the passengers, the captain decides to go on a rescue mission and changes the ship’s course. However, when they arrive at the specified location, the crew finds what appears to be an abandoned ship. Quite soon, strange things are happening on board and the passengers are confronted with inexplicable events.
The new series “1899” is a German production, but it combines one multitude of international starswho speak in their respective mother tongues in line with the topic of emigration.
Unfortunately, this is completely lost in the German dubbed version, since everyone here speaks German. It is therefore recommended that multilingual original (with German subtitles) to see where each actor is in his respective language speaks.
