Far Cry Primal does a lot of things differently than the other games in the series, at least superficially, because instead of fighting the supporters of dictators and cults with guns, we defend ourselves with spears against saber-toothed tigers. Namely, we are sent to prehistoric times where we have to defend ourselves against dangerous wild animals and against members of enemy tribes. That doesn’t change much at the core of the gameplay: We’re still attacking enemy bases in a large open world, where we can experiment with different approaches, and we’re doing numerous side tasks. Nevertheless, the unusual scenario makes Far Cry Primal a unique experience.

In Darksiders 3 we again play one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse who has to find out why the apocalypse was triggered prematurely. In contrast to its predecessor, which offered a lot of exploration, puzzles and climbing, Darksiders 3 clearly focuses on hack & slash fights. The nested level design and progression system are also reminiscent of the Souls games, but the level of difficulty is slightly lower and Fury is significantly faster and more agile than typical Souls heroes.
