Havendock: City Building on the Water with Steam Demo

from Rhonda Bachman
Havendock is a city-builder sim where players build a settlement in the middle of the sea. It’s not just the scarce resources that worry users, but also the needs of the residents. The game, which is scheduled to enter Early Access in the second quarter of 2023, also comes up with all sorts of entertaining silliness.

In the resource management, base building and simulation game Havendock, players are stuck on a deserted island. However, instead of waiting for help, users must make the best of their predicament. They just build a settlement – in the middle of the sea. Havendock is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access in Q2 2023. Before that, those interested can prove themselves as seaworthy colony builders with a demo.

Base building with a difference

In Havendock it all starts with a small island and some flotsam. The first foundations of a hopefully flourishing settlement are being built from washed-up boards. This is anchored to the small sandbank where the player character gets stuck early in the game. Other resources floating in the sea, such as leaves or wooden planks, are used to expand your own settlement.

Technologies that can be researched should make life on the sea easier. Different crafting stations and cultivation plots can also be set up quickly. The seeds for this bring birds that are attracted by birdhouses. Appropriately, other survivors arrive at the settlement by raft. These can be won for your own city and must be cared for.

Havendock also contains some charming gimmicks. Meat, for example, is not produced by raising cattle, but grows in the garden in the simulation. Ready-made cheeseburgers just sprout there, complete with buns and cheese. If you want to see the hustle and bustle on the water before the start of Early Access, a demo is available on Steam. There is also a chance to participate in a closed beta for Havendock.
